the dunes.

it's that thing we do in the summer a lot... pack up the car, head east through what becomes more and more traffic filled and land in the oasis we call "the dunes".

today was a great day out there- 85ish and sunny. we all got sunburned except for jack who had the apporpriate amount of sunscreen and a hat. today made up for the freakishly hot and muggy day on saturday (95, no a/c) and then sunday which was cool (75) and rainy. no matter what the weather, it usually is a relaxing place to be, and this year jack was totally digging the sand and water. he played all morning at the beach... and went to sleep early tonight :)

we also found out tonight that the house we've been hemming and hawing about is under contract. a bummer in one sense, but kind of a relief that we can focus on other homes now. we were kind of in a holding pattern... trying to figure if we could really afford something bigger, and millimeters away from putting in an offer. twice we were there, ready to go, and then we'd chicken out. now the decision is made for us, and we can move on. oh well. hopefully we'll find something we like just as well and the timing and details will all work out.
