garage sales.

why do i get sucked in every time? i really hate sitting here, having people dicker down something i already marked for a freaking dime!

i can't bear to throw anything away that someone MIGHT be able to use. or, i look at the pile of stuff we have sitting in the corner of the basement marked for "the next garage sale" and start mentally adding up how much i spent on that stuff and what i'll probably get for it and go crazy!

i seriously weeded my scrapbook supplies and got rid of a TON of stuff.
mike seriously went through the kitchen and got rid of a lot of small appliances, bowls, etc that we just don't ever use.

it's kind of sad to see someone else driving out of your driveway with "your" things, and then somtimes i think "sucker... i can't believe you even paid $.25 for THAT" HA!

we're not getting rid of anything we can't bear to part with, has sentimental value or has some kind of use currently, but we did have the mentality of "if you don't want to move it to a new house, don't keep it" that helped.

it kind of feels good.

and if i just keep believing that the person who bought my old stuff will actually enjoy it more than i will, then that's okay.

of course i sit here as not one customer has come by in the last hour. okay- two people have done a slow drive by to scout out what they think might be worth looking at... that's even more annoying.

it probably doesn't help that it is 90 degrees or so right now.

I HATE garage sales. I'd rather donate it and take the tax write off. I like flylady's take on things and we don't save anything which makes the house easier to clean and maintain! We just got rid of a TON of Joey's toys and kept some for the next baby. He only plays with certain things anymore! I feel for you!
