contingency plan needed... stat

so... i unexpectedly ended up at the hospital today.

my blood pressure was elevated last time i was at the doctor. today, after lunch i got extremely dizzy and sweating profusely and it wouldn't go away. i went to the nurse (yes, our school nurse) and she took my blood pressure. it was 140/88, which is high for me.

i called my friend tina, who is a ob/gyn in washington to get her advice. was i overreacting? should i just relax and i'll be fine? she suggested i call my ob and see if i can go in for an office visit. i called them and they suggested i go to labor and delivery and they would be calling over there to tell them i'm on my way and not to drive myself.

the words 'labor and delivery' about freaked me out.

so my lmc assistant tracey drove me and i called nancy (the daycare person) to tell her what was going on. i was a little nervous. i couldn't get a hold of mike. i knew he was in a meeting. nobody answers the phone after hours and his cell doesn't work well in the building, so i emailed him to tell him what was going on. he got the bits and pieces of the story from nancy and tracey (who was trying to call him on his cell)

my blood pressure was high at the hospital when i first got there. everything was 'beautiful' with the baby (the doc said so)... they hooked me up to monitors and a bp machine that went off every 10 min... but then my bp was so low it was setting off the alarms... after an hour or so of monitoring the doctor felt it was okay to release me. my bp will be checked at my regular appt. on wed., the baby was totally fine, and other than the dizziness (which had gone away at this point) i was okay. so we went home.

what we learned from this experience, is that mike has none of our local friends' phone numbers in his phone. we were trying to find a place for jack to visit so he didn't have to come to the hospital, but nobody was home. he ended up taking him with him to the hospital. jack was very weird about it. he seemed very concerned, asking if i was okay and when would i be better. he got mad when i couldn't get off the bed and come with him. maybe this was good for him to see me in the hospital so when it's the real thing he's not so freaked...

off to bed now. i'm totally exhausted!
