I just read this in a newsletter from our local Food Allergy support group:
Scientists in the field of food allergy research estimate that
with a commitment of $50 million per year for five to ten
years, we can find a cure for food allergy.
a cure? a cure? way cool. i would even be happy if the "life threatening" part of food allergies could be eliminated, but i'll take cure any day! I will be doing a benefit 5K this fall dedicated to raising money for this specific cause. if you can do your part, please do.

that would be awesome! i've only had one student with a life-threatening food allergy, but the responsibility was overwhelming. it was also surprising just how blase other parents could be about it when sending treats, etc.
