fun weekend!

on friday night mike, cate and i had great seats to the rem show at the united center. i decided that at recent concerts i had been to that i've seen people with cameras, even though it says don't bring them. but, i figured, who knows if this may be the last time i see them live? i'm trying. thank goodness for long shirts and tiny cameras, because i got one in and managed to get some fairly decent shots as well as some video one of favorites, (bad day). i won't bore you with the video. but let me tell you... in the 6 or 7 times i've seen r.e.m. play this was among the top. they are alwasy fun, but stipe was in a particularly upbeat funnier-than-usual mood and seemed to be kind of giddy. it might be because he was excited to be in obama's hood (as he donned an obama 08 pin on his lapel)... or that it was his sister's birthday and she lived in chicago for a time... i'm not sure but for as big as the u.c. is it felt more intimate. it could have been our 23rd row seats too, but it was just cool. that's all. if you are interested, katie posted the link on her blog to the trib's review. thanks katie :)

it was also fun to finally meet katie and cortney, friends of catye's from michigan who apparantly are our clones. wish we could have hung out more.

we started out the evening by having dinner at the white chocolate grill (great salads!) and the buttimers watched the kids (thanks al and jess!)
