next stop, juvie.
oh my.
i knew my oldest boy had a devil streak in him (which he seems to usually show ONLY to us- i guess that's a good thing) but today it tipped the scale in evilness!
he woke up, upset, because he couldn't have a zip up sweatshirt like "CHA-LIE!", his was only the pull on kind. seriously, the kid had a major tantrum of hitting, kicking, biting, etc. he was forced into clothes, teeth brushing and seatbelting and ending his tantrun with screaming "WHAT THE HECK!?" (the only "swear word he knows?" literally millimeters from mike's face.
clearly we need to work through some feelings here. perhaps some anger management strategies.
so after mean ol' dad was out of the picture he was all giggles and smiles with "cha-lie" on the way to school. great. crisis averted (sort of). day goes on.
mike picks him up from school and he has to sign an "incident report". apparantly jack's evil streak made a reappearance. here's the report text:
"this morning at snack, jack smooshed his banana all over the table. when i asked him to pick it up, he replied "i will not, butt face". later in the morning, he wanted a toy so he kicked a friend and called them, "baby butt". jack eventually cleaned it up after he got from the table and ran around throwing toys from tables onto the floor".
that's my boy! what the...? i thought terrible twos were over? i'm am sure jack is the topic of many dinner conversations tonight, since i assume they all talk about him like he talks about what all of his friends did that day.
but "butt face"? okay, that made me giggle just a little. but what a little pain in the neck. i can't believe he spoke to his teacher like that.
so we talked a lot tonight. he is writing apologies to his teacher and his friend (will-i-yum- his good buddy! he kicked him!) and went without dessert (it was the only thing we knew he'd get upset about, and it worked). he also went to bed about 30 minutes earlier than he usually does. and actually he fell asleep without a problem. i suspect much of his evilness came from being overtired.
so anyway. hopefully this is not a pattern of bad reports... it certainly does present a blow to the ego when suddenly the kid you thought you had raised to be respectful to adults and not to hurt others has an outburst like that.
top that off with a rousing song "stinky stinky diaper change" (his song of choice tonight) and we were just beaming with pride tonight.

I am so sorry to laugh at you, but there are actually tears running down my face. I laughed so hard I scared our cat. Why? No, I'm not evil like Jack. Actually, it must be a older-kid full moon. Sammie did the EXACT SAME THING TODAY!!!! Well, she didn't "smoosh her banana on the table" and all that but she let her mean and evil side shine today. It was absolutely awful and terrible heartbreaking. And then she fell asleep 30 minutes early. Which, as you know, kind of explained everything. Hope tomorrow is better for you! (and me)
I also laughed outloud. "Buttface" kind of took me by surprise. I'm glad to hear that I have wonderful things to look forward to. I hope there are no incidents today!
